The Embassy of Jamaica in Tokyo wishes to provide updates on the COVID-19 situation in Japan.

As may be aware, several prefectures across Japan (in particular Tokyo, Hokkaido and Osaka) have seen significant increases in the number of critically ill patients presenting with COVID-19. To address these increases and keep medical services from being overwhelmed, the respective Governors decided to take intensive, short-term measures as follows:

TOKYO

During a press conference this week, Tokyo Governor Koike announced the following measures being requested by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG):

-Restaurants, bars, and karaoke parlours that serve alcohol should close their business at 10 p.m. for 20 days, from Saturday, 28th November to Thursday, 17th December.

-Citizens should refrain from going out as much as possible.
